Helmeted Honeys: I am the Law!
Artist Notes
This painting takes inspiration from one of the most unmistakable helmets in comics and pushes it into a more playful, provocative setting. What interests me here is the tension between authority and desire — the severe visual language of the helmet set against the softness, sensuality, and attitude of the figure beneath it.
There’s an obvious sense of power in the image, but also a sense of fun. That contrast is a big part of what drives this series for me: taking symbols that usually represent control, discipline, or intimidation and turning them into something flirtier, cheekier, and much more human.

Series
This work is part of Helmeted Honeys, an ongoing series exploring the overlap between geek culture, sensuality, anonymity, and style. Each painting pairs an iconic helmet or mask with a body-forward, playful composition, leaning into the tension between armour and skin, power and vulnerability, pop-cultural recognition and erotic charge.
The series is interested in contrast, transformation, and the strange appeal of hiding the face while revealing everything else.
